This year, I set a goal inspired by the Yes Theory team: "Seeking Discomfort." Little did I know, this would turn my world upside down and become more than just a goal—it’s become my life motto.
For me, seeking discomfort has always meant one thing: speaking up and speaking out for what I believe in. It’s a personal challenge I’ve wrestled with for as long as I can remember. And I know I’m not alone in this struggle.
As women, many of us find it difficult to voice our opinions and ideas. Self-doubt creeps in, society’s expectations weigh us down, and that relentless inner voice tells us that we are not enough. It can be paralysing.
Navigating these personal challenges while managing my career as a communicator has been both interesting and difficult. My job is all about expressing ideas and connecting with others, but how do I do that when I sometimes struggle to express my own voice?
This journey of seeking discomfort has pushed me to reflect deeply on the role we, as women, play in communication. The landscape has evolved, empowering us to share our ideas, touch lives, and build communities in ways that were unimaginable before.
Our words, thoughts, and ideas are now more powerful and unstoppable than ever.
But all of this starts with showing up as our true selves. Authenticity—a word we hear often, perhaps too often—holds real meaning for me. By embracing our true selves, we not only find our own voice but also inspire others to do the same.
This Women's Month, let’s celebrate the unstoppable women who bravely seek discomfort and their own truth. Let’s uplift each other and create an environment where every voice is heard and valued. Together, we can make a difference, one authentic voice at a time.
